Dexter Mills

Dexter, before becoming the Executive Director of Northwest Georgia RESA formerly served as the Director of Secondary School Improvement for the Georgia Department of Education. Prior to that he served as a School Improvement consultant with the Southern Regional Education Board in Atlanta, working with research projects in Idaho, Oklahoma and South Carolina and provided leadership training to school teams in ten other SREB states. He has also served as a middle school and high school teacher, a high school assistant principal and was a high school principal for thirteen years in Cobb County. The size of the schools he led varied from 900 students to 3,300 students. He also served as an associate superintendent of schools in the Gainesville City School System for four years.
In addition to his professional work, Mr. Mills served for over a decade as a facilitator at the Harvard Graduate School of Education Principals’ Center. He chaired the Urban Schools Committee for the National Association of Secondary School Principals and presented at the first International Oxford Conference for Principals at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England.
